About the Festival
True/False Film Festival brings together over nonfiction filmmakers, artists, musicians, and audiences for a unique four-day creative experience in mid-Missouri. The organic interactions that occur at the Fest invite visitors to connect with people from different places with different lived experiences.
The 2020 Fest, our 17th edition, will present approximately 150 screenings of 40 feature and 20 short nonfiction films, each followed by a Q&A with the director; 10 musical showcases; 22 visual art installations; 6 virtual reality programs; and 8 panel discussions.
True/False is viewed as a celebratory venture into new cinematic and visual arts frontiers.
Since its inception in 2004, the True/False Film Festival continues to gain momentum in captivating and engaging communities in immersive arts experiences and brings in an audience of approximately 16,000 individuals.
During its 17-year history, the festival has expanded its artistic focus to include art installations, virtual reality programming, live music performances, filmmaker mentorships, a robust education program and an “ideas fest.”
The international reputation of the festival as a place for people to connect, debate and share diverse viewpoints has grown with many filmmakers, critics, journalists and other visitors who return year after year for the unparalleled hospitality and creative spirit of our city.
